Direct-Hire Staffing
Direct-hire staffing — permanent hires, recruited to spec.
Lingo Professional is a direct-hire staffing agency for industrial and operational organizations. We run the search; you make the hire onto your own payroll. Contingent — you pay only when you hire the talent we deliver.
Direct hire is the cleanest way to add permanent talent: we do the recruiting, you hire the person directly. No agency on your payroll afterward, no temp-to-perm conversion to negotiate — the employee works for you from day one.
What "direct hire" means
Direct hire is a permanent job offered directly by the employer: the company hires you onto its own payroll from day one, with the company’s pay, benefits, and title — no staffing agency in the middle once you start. A recruiter may run the search and make the introduction, but the employment relationship is between you and the employer. That is the difference between a direct-hire position (a permanent seat on the company payroll) and a temporary or temp-to-hire role, where you are on the agency’s payroll for a period first.
Direct hire, in four terms. Direct hire — a permanent role filled onto the employer’s payroll. Direct-hire position — the permanent seat itself, with company pay and benefits from day one. Direct-hire employment — working directly for the employer, not the agency. Placement fee — the one-time fee the hiring company (never the candidate) pays the agency when a hire is made.
What a direct-hire staffing agency actually does
A good direct-hire agency does the part that takes time and a network: finding people who fit, confirming they are genuinely interested, and handing you a short list worth interviewing. We source candidates, screen them for skills and fit, and deliver a slate — then you interview, decide, and hire them onto your own payroll. There is no markup riding on the role after the placement closes.
That is different from temporary or temp-to-hire staffing, where the worker stays on the agency’s payroll for a period first. Lingo Professional does direct-hire and executive search only. If you need flexible, temporary, or on-site workforce staffing, that is handled by our sister company, Lingo Staffing.
Contingent by default. Our professional direct-hire search is contingent — there is no upfront cost to engage us, and you pay a placement fee only when you hire someone we deliver. If you do not hire, you do not pay.
How we run a direct-hire search
Our process is built to deliver the right hire, not a pile of resumes. Four steps:
Intake
A real conversation about the role, the team, the comp range, and what "right" actually looks like — not a job-board repost.
Search & vet
We recruit to spec from our own network and screen for skills, fit, and motivation before you ever see a resume.
Shortlist
A tight slate of qualified, genuinely interested candidates — each with our honest read on strengths and trade-offs.
Place & support
You hire directly. We stay close through the offer, the counteroffer, and onboarding so the placement lands.
Direct hire vs temp-to-hire vs temporary
Three different ways to add people — the right one depends on whether the need is permanent, trial-based, or short-term:
Direct hire
A permanent hire onto your payroll from day one. We run the search; you hire directly. Contingent placement fee paid only when you hire, with no ongoing markup. Best when the role is permanent and you want the person to be yours from the start.
Temp-to-hire
The worker starts on the staffing agency’s payroll for a trial period, then converts to your payroll if it’s a fit. Best when you want to evaluate before committing. Handled by our sister company, Lingo Staffing.
Temporary
Short-term or seasonal coverage that stays on the agency’s payroll throughout — no conversion intended. Best for surge, leave coverage, or project work. Also handled by Lingo Staffing.

Common questions.
What does "direct hire" mean?
Direct hire means a permanent job filled directly by the employer — the company hires the person onto its own payroll, with the company’s pay, benefits, and title from day one. A recruiter may run the search, but there is no agency on the payroll afterward. It is different from temporary or temp-to-hire staffing, where the worker stays on the agency payroll for a period first.
What is a direct-hire staffing agency?
A direct-hire staffing agency recruits and vets candidates for permanent roles that you hire directly onto your own payroll. The agency runs the search — sourcing, screening, and shortlisting — and you make the hire. Unlike temporary or temp-to-hire staffing, there is no agency on the payroll afterward: the employee works for you from day one.
How does direct-hire placement work at Lingo Professional?
We start with an intake call to scope the role, then recruit to spec from our own network, screen candidates for skills and fit, and deliver a short slate of qualified, interested people. You interview and hire them directly. We stay involved through the offer and onboarding. Most of our placements come from relationships, not job-board reposts.
How much does a direct-hire search cost?
Our professional direct-hire search is contingent — you pay a placement fee only when you hire a candidate we deliver. There is no upfront cost to engage us on a contingent search and no charge if you do not hire. For confidential leadership roles we also offer retained executive search; we will recommend the right model on the intake call.
How is direct hire different from temp or temp-to-hire?
Direct hire is a permanent placement onto your payroll from day one. Temporary and temp-to-hire staffing keep the worker on the agency payroll for a period first. Lingo Professional handles direct-hire and executive search only. For temporary, temp-to-hire, or on-site workforce staffing, our sister company Lingo Staffing handles that.
What roles do you place on a direct-hire basis?
We focus on leadership, engineering, operations, finance, supply chain, construction, and skilled technical roles for industrial and operational organizations — from Plant Controllers and Reliability Engineers to Operations Directors and Plant Managers.
Where do you recruit?
Nationwide. Backed by Lingo Staffing’s national footprint, we recruit and place permanent professional talent across the United States.
Do direct-hire placements come with a guarantee?
The industry standard is a replacement guarantee: if the hire leaves within an agreed window, the firm reruns the search at no additional placement fee. What separates firms is whether those terms are specific and in writing. When Lingo Professional scopes your search, the guarantee terms are part of the written agreement before you engage — you will know the exact window and what it covers before you commit to anything.
What happens if a direct hire doesn’t work out?
First, the recruiter should own it — understand what went wrong in the match, not just restart a resume feed. Under a replacement guarantee, the search reopens at no additional placement fee within the agreed window, and the second pass starts smarter: the miss itself tells you what the role actually requires. This is also why we stay involved through the offer and onboarding — most failed hires trace back to a mismatch that was visible before day one.
